Dutch Landscape

In Netherlands we have many beautiful landscapes, especially in the nrth where we live '' in the countryside ''.
A well known nature reserve in the Netherlands is the Veluwe. But also here around Wolvega is a beautiful area with many land and forest. In the densely populated Netherlands forest has multiple functions. In addition to making wood are the nature, landscape, and recreation function is importance. Forest law, forest policy and regulations ensure that the Dutch forest is managed so that does justice to all those functions. That demands a lot skill and knowledge from the woud-watcher and at companies that forest work.
The Dutch forest is varied and small-scale.
Netherlands has for such a small country so much forest.
We also have a see: the Northsee. One important city nearby the see is Scheveningen. People from other country's have problems to pronouce the name corectly, that is funny for us to hear.


How much forest has the Netherlands got?

Compared to other Western European countries Netherlands has very little forest: a thick 330,000 ha., about 10% of the land surface.
A Dutchman that amounts to 200 m2 forest. There is still forest at. In the last century was that 100,000 ha. Between 1994 and 2020 would the Empire there 75,000 ha. new forest.

Netherlands changes – the forest changes with it. Around 1900 was about 4% of the land area is wooded, now that 10%.
